ABOUT US Manchester Athletic Football Club & Sports Academy intends to increase participation and promote healthy and active lifestyles by supporting the Governments strategy of Every Child Matters. The scheme aims to use Football and sports as a tool to increase education attainment, promote social inclusion and challenge social nuisance. We will provide a free weekly training course. We will develop the teams into various age groups who will then compete in a local league system. We have secured the services of one UEFA qualified coach and FA level 1 coaches. The club will be affiliated to the Football Association. Sports play an important role in the life of young people and as well as the obvious health benefits it also helps to develop important social and life skills. We want to make sure that all young people have the best possible experience and support structure in place in order for them to achieve their full potential. We will Endeavor to increase skill, encourage talent and support all our members towards achieving their full potential. We will be working in some of the most deprived areas in Manchester (as per the recent state of the city report indicates) and we shall be accessible to all who wish to take part.We have in place an equal opportunities policy and anti discrimination policy. We will not be limited to football, we intend to promote, support and encourage all sporting activities.Once we have established the Football aspect of the Academy we will be looking at setting up other sports facilities subject to funding. We will also develop, support and provide guidance to talented individuals who have the potential to become professional sports people. There is a lack of sports facilities in Manchester specifically in Longsight, Rusholme, Gorton, Levenshulme, Ardwick and Fallowfield. Initially most of our members will be from the Longsight and surrounding areas however our focus is to reach out in to all areas especially the ‘hard to reach groups’ and areas that do not provide sports facilities for young people. We do not intend to set boundaries and wish to support any young person to achieve their full potential. All members of staff and volunteers will undergo enhanced CRB checks. All members of staff will be trained in Basic first aid and undergo the Football Associations safety and welfare course. Manchester FC and sports academy has in place a child protection policy and a designated safety and welfare officer. |
